The Uncornered Project

Everyone, at one point in their lives, has felt cornered. For gang-involved youth growing up on the streets of Boston, that feeling is literal. Their street corner determines so much of their lives, including whether they go to school or prison.

With The Uncornered Project, we set out to tell the stories of people who have Uncornered themselves from life’s toughest circumstances. With former gang members standing next to politicians and business leaders, we paired these stories with striking portraits by photographer John Huet.

Our exhibition on the Boston Common generated a ton of buzz, but more importantly, announced the beginning of a movement to transform our city one corner at a time.
